I know this is years late, and no one will probably read this, but I just now found out about Joe Paul,s death. I first met Joe Paul at San Diego MCRD in 1967 when we were in radio/ telegraph school. We met up again at Camp Pendleton for infantry training prior to Viet Nam. We were together for several months, until he requested a transfer to the 26th Marines. He lived through the siege of Khe Shan. We reunited at Camp Lejune for our last year in the Marines, He drove a bright yellow Pontiac GTO and I drove a small Austin Healy. Joe Paul had a unique ability to open his throat and guzzle a mug of beer in a split second. Just one of his amazing traits. I last saw him when we had dinner in Philadelphia around 1985. I am so saddened by his passing.
