Mom, how can I ever thank you enough for everything you have done for me. As a child you protected me, always holding my hand and keeping me close, never letting me out of your sight. When it came time for me to start school, you moved us out of town to a safer school system.
In sixth grade when I was struggling with my times table, you sat me down night after night with one hundred flash cards until I got it right.
Money was always tight and sometimes there wasn’t enough food. You would cook dinner and make sure dad and I had enough to eat while you barely put anything on your plate.
You taught me how to love animals and as an only child our dogs and cats were like brothers and sisters to me.
At Christmas you always made sure I had a ton of toys to play with. I was the envy of the neighborhood.
Thank you for turning me on to rock and roll, in particular Creedance Clearwater Revival. And when Cousin Ellen gave me a snare drum, you went out and got a full drum kit for me to practice on – a hobby that I loved so much and played for over 20 years.
Thanks to you we were able to move out of our apartment and buy our own home.
Thank you for encouraging me to go to college. I know how proud you were when I graduated Stevens with a B.S. in Physics.
And mom, when I was diagnosed with cancer you went and found one of the world’s best research oncologists to treat me which saved my life.
I know how much you loved gambling. Something that sticks with me and showed your unselfish nature was when you would win a jackpot at bingo and instead of spending the money on yourself, you would go to the grocery store and buy a lot of food and goodies, so the fridge and pantry were fully stocked.
I miss our trips to AC for Mother’s Day and your birthday – I’m sorry you never got to win the “big one”. I’m also sorry you never got to go to Vegas and Disneyworld; I know how much you wanted to see those places.
I’m sorry that you had to suffer the last years of your life with Parkinson’s – you didn’t deserve that.
Mom, I will miss you forever.
Love, Michael

My wife, Loretta, was the love of my life. I knew she was the one the first time I saw her. I thought I was the luckiest man in the world. She gave me a wonderful son, Michael, who is now helping me pick up the pieces and go on with my life. I will never stop loving her and I miss her desperately. I look forward to the day we are reunited in Heaven.

My mother-in-law, Loretta Blake, was a devoted wife and mother. She had a good heart. The last 4 years of her life were a struggle but now she is free. She is in Heaven and will continue to watch over us until we meet again.
