Obituary of Michael J. Logan

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael J. Logan, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Barnegat, New Jersey, on September 28, 2024. Born on September 10, 1947, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Michael was the beloved son of John Logan and Earline (Dickie) Utter. He was predeceased by his parents, his stepmother Estelle Logan, and his brothers Randy, Brian, and Jeffrey Logan. Michael proudly served in the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1969 and serving during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1973. For over 40 years, Michael worked as a truck driver for United Steel Deck and Neary Excavating, retiring in 2018. Known for his many stories and quirky sayings, Mike was always a source of laughter, often at his own expense. He famously said, “A truck driver never lets the truth stand in the way of a really good story.” In his free time, Mike explored various hobbies, including photography, RC cars, drones, playing the ukulele, and metal detecting. He had a deep love for music, cars, and traveling with his wife and close friends. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends. During NASCAR racing season, Mike could always be found with his eyes glued to every race. If you lived in his current neighborhood, you could find Mike riding around on his trike and chatting with the neighbors. Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Lynne (Drake) Logan, and her children: Jennifer (Pyzik) Cichone, Janell Pyzik, and Jason Pyzik. He was a beloved father-in-law to Ed Cichone, Jill Dolan, and Michele (Sadeghian) Pyzik. “Pop Pop Mikey” adored his six grandchildren: Evan, Emma, Kayla, Ryan, Navy, and Jackson. He is also survived by his beloved family, the many Gaspari cousins. A celebration of Michael’s life will be planned for a future date, just as he would have wanted, with his favorite music and good stories. Michael will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Please consider donating to cancer research in Michael’s memory.
