Orlando Galietti Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather February 16, 1930 - March 15, 2024 Orlando Galietti, 94, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2024 Born at home in Newark NJ to Rosina Denice Galietti, Orlando was the youngest of seven siblings; all who have predeceased him. Orlando was a graduate of West Side High School in Newark NJ, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Angela Palvino in 1954. Together they bought their first house in Bloomfield NJ, lived and raised their family in Colonia NJ and eventually moved to Toms River NJ in 1993 for their active and fun retirement years. Orlando began his work life in the lab at Shell Oil and retired from Mobil Chemical in 1993. Orlando’s ingenuity was ever-present outside of work, where he enjoyed tinkering and fixing things with his expansive collection of tools in his basement and garage work benches. He was ahead of his time, ensuring nothing was beyond repair with epoxy or masking tape! His practical skills were matched only by his eagerness to pass on this knowledge, teaching all who were willing to learn the art of fixing, a testament to his belief in self-sufficiency and the joy of problem-solving. Orlando’s heart was never more evident than during the large Italian family Christmas Eve celebrations, where he took on the role of jolly gift-giver. With good humor, high energy, and love, he passed out presents to all- especially to his kids and all his nieces and nephews, with his laughter and joy as abundant as the gifts he handed out. Orlando’s vibrant personality extended beyond family gatherings to his Toms River Holiday Heights neighborhood, where he played softball, ping pong, and pool at the clubhouse and enjoyed many social activities with his wife Angie and friends. He joined the Italian American Club in Toms River, and served as president. His love for travel was shared joyfully with his wife Angie, sister-in-laws Jo and Marie, and a wide circle of friends. On their many bus trips, Orlando was invariably the life of the party, his infectious energy and humor bringing smiles and laughter to all who joined in the adventure. Orlando is lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Angela, his daughter Nancy Galietti and her husband Zach Marks of Summit, NJ, his sons Tom Galietti and wife Kathy of Spokane, WA, and Paul and his wife Margaret of Somerset, NJ. His legacy will be carried forward by his grandchildren Geoff and wife Lauren, Stephanie and fiancé Cody, Gianni, Cobbe, Filip, and Kris, as well as his great-grandchildren Henry and Annie, all who will honor his memory by embracing life’s fullness. A private ceremony celebrating Orlando’s life will be held among family members. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Orlando may be made to the VNA Health Group Foundation, 23 Main St, Holmdel, NJ 07733, or online at VNAHG.org. The family extends their deepest gratitude to all who provided care and comfort to Orlando in his later years. Rest in Peace Big O. You leave behind a legacy of warmth and wisdom, having touched the lives of many with your humor and family values. Your stories will continue to inspire and entertain us, just as they did throughout your full and vibrant life.
