Obituary of James F. Buckley

James F. Buckley, 79, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and resided in Marlboro, NJ for forty-seven years. Jim was a 1959 graduate of Niagara University, and a 1962 graduate of St. John’s School of Law. Following law school, he joined the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of first lieutenant. He enjoyed a long career in financial services, and was still serving clients as a personal financial advisor at the time of his death. Jim was happiest when he was near the water. He spent many happy days throughout his life sailing on, or just looking at Southold Bay in eastern Long Island near his boyhood summer home. He dedicated his life to loving and providing for his family and took enormous pride in his children and their accomplishments. He was a true intellect who enjoyed reading on subjects far from his scope of practice and inventing elaborate devices in his mind which he was sure would change the world. He will be well remembered for his dry wit, entertaining story telling and his tendency to tease nearly everyone with whom he came into contact. Jim was the seventh of nine children and is predeceased by his parents, John and Katherine (Behan) Buckley. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann (Nancy) Buckley, and his children Christine and her husband Jameel Ahmed, James and his wife Kathleen, Nancy and her husband James Moran, William and his wife Melissa, and Laura and her husband Martin Kamara. He is survived by his ten grandchildren: Thomas, Jack, Brendan, Liam, Henry, Georgia, John, Joseph, James, and Grace. He is also survived by his sisters Francis Little Soule, Jane Steinbugler and Katherine Farr. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at St. Gabriel’s Church in Marlboro, NJ at 11:00 am.
