Obituary of Frederick Kersens

After a long illness, Frederick Kersens, 81, of Barnegat passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024 with Crickett Kersens, his wife of 55 years, by his side. Fred grew up in Beachwood and graduated from Toms River High School in 1960. He went on to study metallurgical engineering at Lehigh University, and led a successful career in the field for 25 years before retiring in 1992. He and his wife lived happily on a lagoon in Bayville for 40 years. Sailing the Barnegat Bay became a “Priority,” the name of his sailboat, before moving to Barnegat in 2012. Fred enjoyed traveling the world with Crickett, including their annual vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He was always the life of the party, and would never refuse an opportunity to perform on a stage. He is survived by his wife, Crickett Kersens of Barnegat; sister-in-law and brother-in law, Debra and John Breen of Yardley, Pennsylvania; niece Tanya Breen Paradine and her husband, Drew Paradine, of West Caldwell; great-niece, Daghan Breen Flail; and great-nephew, Talan Breen Flail, both of West Caldwell. At Fred’s request, there will be no services held in his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association in his name.
