Obituary of Michael T Callahan

Off on his eternal fishing trip, Michael Thomas Callahan (75) of Manchester Township, NJ formerly of Dumont, NJ passed away peacefully in the company of his loving family on January 7th, 2023. Born in Weehawken on May 29th, 1947 to Joseph Ralph Callahan and Violet Callahan (nee LaBianco). Michael was warmly welcomed. Blessed with his sisters, JoAnn Pangione (Joseph) (Walton, NY) and Patricia Garcia (Silio) (Clifton, NJ), Mike spent his childhood fishing and hunting in the swamps of NJ (Meadowlands), much to his mother’s chagrin. Mike made his career as a butcher/purveyor of fine meats on the west side of Manhattan He is previously deceased by his first wife Kathleen Marie (nee Cullen). He is survived by his wife Donna-Le (nee Olson), his two children Lynn A. (Henderson, NV) and Michael T. Callahan Jr. (Newton, NJ) his stepsons Robert M. (previously deceased) and Jonathan G. Scalo (Garfield, NJ), his sisters JoAnn Pangione and Patricia Garcia, grandchildren Frances, Michael III and Kathleen Callahan, Scott Toth, Giovanni, Leilani, Willow and Nicolina Scalo, nieces and nephews Jill Youngs (nee Pangione), Jenna Pangione, Silio and Avery Garcia, Elizabeth Maylath and John Kettles. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. “Whoa and whoa again,” as Mike would say, he was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and the most awesome grandfather anyone could ask for, patient enough to teach his grandkids, nieces and nephews to love fishing and crabbing. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. “Never get stuck behind a Buick”
