Obituary of Elaine Lessin

Elaine Lessin, 86, passed away on 11/28/22, after a long battle with primary progressive aphasia. Elaine was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 23, 1936, to David and Ann Kalina. She was married to Melvin Lessin from 1957 until his untimely death in a boating accident in 1970. Her second husband, Alan Lawrence, passed away in 2018. Elaine was also predeceased by her oldest daughter, Mindy Gilreath, her beloved brother, Sonny Kalina, and his two sons, Bobby and Richie. She leaves behind her daughter Lori (Richard) McCourt, four granddaughters Melissa (Daniel) Lubrecht, Alex McCourt, Kaila McCourt, and TJ McCourt, and two great- grandchildren, Kaden and Kalina Lubrecht — all of whom loved and appreciated her with all their hearts. Elaine also leaves behind a nephew she adored, Roger (Lauren) Kalina, and her sister-in-law, Sheila Kalina, as well as her best friend and cousin, Jackie Metz. Elaine blessed her family with too many good memories to count. She will be remembered for her patience, her selflessness, her easy demeanor, her ready smile and infectious laugh, her boundless energy, and the beautiful framed needlepoints that will always serve as a reminder of her inability to sit idle. Elaine loved well and was well loved in return. Her presence in our lives will be cherished and missed.
