Obituary of Doris Eaton

Doris Eaton was born in Bronx, New York, 1934 and died peacefully at her home in Manchester Township, NJ on July 9, 2022, she was 87 yrs. old. Doris is survived by her life partner and wife Kathy (aka Kate) of the past 33 years. Doris was loved and respected by many acquaintances, friends, colleagues, and family. She had a great sense of humor, a wonderful wit, and a big, unique presence. She was direct, she was honest, and you always knew where you stood with her. She was kind, loving and supportive in her own way. She was a staunch advocate of peace. Doris was a friend of Bill W. and humbly proud of her 37 years of recovery. She helped many people find recovery and in doing so, helped save several lives. Upon graduating from Red Bank Catholic High School, Doris became a nun. After 8 years she desired more options in life and left the convent. Doris married and had 3 children, Marifrances, Brian and Terrence. Doris followed her quest for more in life by graduating from Georgian Court College and then earning a Master’s Degree in History from the University of Miami. Doris purchased a house that needed work, taught herself home repair, and started her own small construction business. Eventually, she hung up her pink construction boots, and went back to school to earn a 2nd Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Rutgers University. She became a Medical Librarian for Union Hospital, Merck-Medco and St. Joseph’s Hospital. She also worked at Sparta Public Library. She was predeceased by her son Brian (55) and her grandson Michael (17). She is also survived by Marifrances (daughter), Terrence (son), Colleen (daughter-in-law), Brian, Harrison, and Joey (grandsons) and Maria.   Her sisters Virginia Randall, Kathleen Vignolini (Robert) and Jack LoPinto.  Also surviving her are many nieces and nephews and sponsees. A memorial will be held on Thursday July 14, 2022, between 3:00 and 5:00 pm at Ocean County Cremation Service, 1252 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755.
