Rudolph V.“Vinnie” Porcellini, 94, of Jackson Township passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 1, 2020. He was born in New York City on September 2, 1925 and moved to Jackson during the late 1960’s. He retired from Temple Shaari Emeth in Manalapan in 1987. Vinnie was a World War ll Navy Veteran who was on the LCT-855 which made its way to Utah Beach on D-Day. He was one of 5 brothers that served in World War ll. He was an avid Yankee Fan. During his younger years he played third base for a Triple A baseball team in the Queens Alliance League (Sandlot). Back then he was paid $25 per game and $50 for a double header. He was predeceased by his parents Vincenzo and Eleanora Porcellini, his five bothers Pat Porcellini, Silvio Porcellini, Donato Porcellini, Anthony Porcellini and Mario Porcellini. He was also predeceased by his four sisters Irene Parmegiani, Yolanda Cooper, Grace Repischak and Eleanor Mindas. He is survived by his sister Mary Craig of Englishtown, his daughters Michelle Vidalis and her husband John of Jackson, Caroline Laudien and her husband Bill of Waretown, and Joseph Sweador of Jackson. He leaves behind 4 grandchildren – Tanya Tabush (Bobby) of Lincroft, Brittany Gioe (Joe) of Fort Worth, Texas, David Sweador (Lisa) of Jackson, and Daniel Laudien (Callie) of Guilford, CT and in addition 7 great grandchildren with 1 on the way. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Vinnie was well loved and will be sorely missed by all. Services will be at The Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. We’re sorry but due to COVID 19 restrictions on the number of people permitted to attend, services are limited to the immediate family only.
