Obituary of Dr. Ronald Crescenzo
Please share a memory of Dr. Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dr. Ronald Crescenzo of Point Pleasant passed away August 15, 2016 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ, surrounded by his family and close friends, who had gathered in support, love and devotion for him. He was 81 years old. Dr Ron was born in West New York, NJ to Vera and Joseph Crescenzo on October 7, 1934. He grew up there and graduated from Memorial High School in June 1952, and graduated from Columbia Chiropractic Institute in New York City in 1955, when he established his first Chiropractic practice in Point Pleasant Beach. In 1958, he married the former Lucille Lauro, the mother of his four children. That same year, he moved his practice to his Beaver Dam Road office, where he continued to serve his patients until the week of his unexpected death. For him, the practice of Chiropractic was a “spiritual, emotional calling” and one he never lost his passion for.
Living a life dedicated to the service to others, Dr. Ron started his resume of accomplishments at a young age: Charter Secretary and President of Point Pleasant Kiwanis Club, several terms on Point Pleasant Council, where he served as Chairman of the Committee to locate Borough Hall at its present location, and was responsible for the Bay Head- Manasquan Canal name change to Point Pleasant Canal, putting Point Pleasant on every sailing map printed. In service to his Chiropractic profession, he was named President and three times Chairman of Board of Directors of the NJ Chiropractic Society; Chiropractor of the Year by both the Monmouth County Chiropractic Society and in 1972 by the NJ Chiropractic Society; was appointed to the NJ State Board of Medical Examiners by Governor Cahill, and served as Consultant/Expert Witness for NJ State Office of the Attorney General. With his business partners, he was pivotal in the creation, construction and operation of Claremont Care Center which opened in 1972 on the Point Pleasant Canal, and was co-developer of Holly Park South, a condominium complex in Point Pleasant.
Dr Ron loved his family, his profession, his towns of West New York, Point Pleasant and Jupiter, Florida and all the wonderful friends and patients he met along the way. He was famous for the gift of his magic healing hands in his chiropractic practice and for the alchemical magic they produced in his kitchen as a talented and accomplished cook. His summer pool parties and cook outs were occasions of extreme pleasure for his family and friends. Dr. Ron leaves his four children, Renata, Debbie, Brian and Ronald, Jr., grandchildren Gina, Alisa, Danielle, Amanda; great grandson Michael and great granddaughter Ophelia; his beloved and devoted life partner Connie Smith and her son David Smith (Marie) and one of Ron’s special delights, granddaughter, Tally, to whom he was known as “Papou”; his only brother John, Sr. and nephews John Jr. (Marie), Mark (Susan), grand nieces and nephews Joseph, Nickolas, Katharine, Alena, and Stefi and Michael Fava. Dr. Ron’s passing leaves a void in the lives of those who were beneficiaries of his love, his charismatic presence and well known generosity. He is loved by so many and will be sorely missed. Interment will be private.
