Obituary of Evelyn Anna McGuire

Evelyn Anna McGuire, 93, of Lanoka Harbor, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2019 at Spring Oak Assisted Living. 

 

She was predeceased by her infant son, James Dennis, two sisters, Muriel and Althea, and two brothers, Andrew and Leonard. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 74 years, James, her four children and their spouses: Maria Titus(Martin), Kathleen Andrews(Walter), Patricia Melmed(Victor), and James McGuire(Anna).  She is the beloved grandmother of Michelle, Michael, Kelly, Megan, Christopher, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Rachel, and Danielle. She is also survived by her six great grandchildren: Joseph, Jeremy, Jacob, Alexander, George, and Aubrey.

 

Evelyn was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She met her husband James on a blind date during World War II. They were married in New Orleans on July 16,1945 and would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this year. They raised their four children in Jersey City, NJ and Forked River, NJ.

 

Evelyn loved playing Bingo and golfing while living in Florida. She loved shopping, especially for shoes!!!, and getting her hair and nails done. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family, especially her great grandchildren who she adored! She will be greatly missed!

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Evelyn's name be made to:

American Diabetes Association(diabetes.org) or Bayada Hospice, 96 East Water Street, Toms River, NJ 08753 

 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019, !0:00 AM, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 300 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731. Interment will be private.
