Obituary of Giovanni Rocco Ponzio

 

Giovanni Rocco Ponzio (John), 38, of Brick took his final ride January 29, 2018.  John was a devoted father, son, friend, electrician and lover of anything with speed!  He was the perfect combination of many things: a thrill seeker that kept both feet on the ground, a tough exterior with a colossal heart, a serious demeanor when needed yet the funniest person around.  But most importantly, nothing was ever too difficult if it made his children smile.  

John is survived by his mother Elaine Hannam and her companion Gary Brodbeck; His father and stepmother Anthony and Roxanne Ponzio; his sister Nicole Ponzio .  He also leaves his children (his “turkeys”) Gianna, Damian, Rocco and Marco Ponzio; their mother Corinne Ajjan; His in-laws Mandy and Jim Santos; Ashley Santos, Glenn Guillermo and their daughter Stella.  He is also survived by his Grandmothers Helen Ponzio and Mary Mercadante.  Lastly, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He is preceded by his sister Brittany Hannam and Grandfathers Giovanni Ponzio and Billevino Mercadante.

In honor of John and his wishes a “Celebration of Life” will be held to embrace his memories and capture them forever in our hearts.  The ceremony will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 1-5pm at the Silver Ridge Park West Clubhouse at 145 Westbrook Drive, Toms River NJ 08757. The memorial service will begin at 2pm. In lieu of sympathy cards, the family asks that attendees consider writing a letter sharing a memory of John to give as a keepsake to his children.
