Obituary of John Harold Ostman

John Harold Ostman, 70, of Toms River, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1st. Born on February 4, 1956, in Piscataway, New Jersey, John called Toms River home for more than 38 years. John dedicated over 40 years to his career working on automobiles, most of those years in Manasquan. Outside of work, John was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, sports, the outdoors, working on cars, and reminiscing with friends. A devoted parishioner, he was affectionately known as "the mayor" of his neighborhood and was always ready to offer a helping hand or words of advice. John will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and unwavering willingness to help others. John is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Ostman; his children, John K. Ostman, Julie Ostman, and Michael Ostman; and his sister, Donna Ostman. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his sister, Joan Ostman, and his brother, Kenneth Ostman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Ocean County Baptist Church located at 1380 Old Freehold Road, Toms River, NJ on Sunday, August 9th at 1pm followed by a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in John's memory.
